Climate Change

 
 
The focus of the Lenten Study group this year was climate change, a topic that, as we all know, is dear to Pope Francis. Pope Francis shared his concerns, and explained our duty as Catholics and human beings, in his second encyclical titled “Laudato Si’” —or “Praise Be to You,” in English.

For our Lenten Study this year, we enjoyed a fantastic talk on the scientific aspects of the climate change, delivered by one of the world’s best recognised experts on the subject: Professor Martin Manning, of Victoria University of Wellington. The slides that Prof Manning kindly shared with us during his talk are available here: 

 

 

Also, as part of our Lenten activities on the subject of climate change, we created several posters with input from parishioners that participated in the climate change discussions:
