Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 4/5 February 2012
In this week’s gospel Mark shows Jesus engaged in a ministry of healing, yet there is a suggestion that the excitement provoked by healing, could get in the way of his ministry of preaching.
Human suffering, especially the suffering of the innocent has always been a problem, in trying to understand the place of suffering in a world supposedly created by a God who cares.
There are no simple answers but today’s readings point to some directions in which we may find strength, hope and an opportunity to discover our own answers.
